Create a No-Fail Plan
This means setting a workout schedule and sticking to it. Be sensible, make it work for you. Focus on the means, not the end. A University of Iowa Study found that people are more likely to stick with a weight-loss plan when they concentrate on specific actions instead of desired results. Break your goal into habits that will help you achieve it. You know when you're able workout, so don't try to schedule outside of those times. You will only set yourself up for failure.
Measure Your Success
Amazing results don't happen overnight, but they do happen over time. Make it work for you. You're not likely to notice a change in the mirror right away, focus on what you can measure: Your Performance. You should be able to do more every workout, you can bet that if your numbers are improving, so is your body. Don't be afraid to journal your workouts, it can be very uplifting to see your progress.
Fuel Your Muscles
You may workout all the time, but if you don't eat the right foods, you won't have the body you want. The key ingredient for any diet is protein, it provides the nutrients you need for muscle growth. The protein source can be animal or plant. This allows Vegetarians and Vegans to build muscle and burn fat also. To grow larger muscles and speed fat loss you should eat about 1 gram of protein per pound of your target weight. Example: you would consume 190 grams of protein a day for your target weight of 190 pounds.
Find A Partner
There are tons of benefits to working out with someone else. You can do a better range of exercises if someone is there to spot you, plus others push you outside of your comfort zone. A partner can hold you accountable and vice-versa. A partner can encourage you to work harder when necessary, and compliment you when you do. Knowing that someone else knows your fitness goals can be a super motivator.
Think Beyond Yourself
Not in the mood to workout? Keep moving for the people who can't. You may have people in your life that are sick or dying, and even if you don't, that doesn't mean they aren't out there. Put it in perspective. When you think about people fighting for their lives, it makes a workout seem like nothing. Honor them by making yourself better. Focus on why you want to be more fit and realize there are many who can't, do it for them.
