How to Maximize Your Protein

ByAdam Nagy

High protein diets are more common these days for a variety of people. From fad diets to serious athletes, these diets are becoming the norm. High protein diets are characterized by protein intake of greater than 1 gram per pound of body weight. These diets have advantages such as:

Increased lean body mass
Increased nitrogen retention
Decreased body fat

Past clinical studies have reported that 30 grams of protein was the limit a person should consume in one sitting. This was supposedly the point at which your own body's enzyme pathways became overwhelmed and you could not extract or utilize any more protein. So if you ingested 50 grams of protein, you've basically wasted at least 20 grams. The wasted protein passes through your system unused. This may place unnecessary strain on your kidneys and present side effects such as:

Gas
Bloating
Constipation

So we get asked many times, "How then am I supposed to eat 50 grams per meal and make it work for me?" Let's look at the rate limiting step. Your enzyme pathways increase the enzymes present, and you should increase the breakdown and absorption of your protein.

Here's a quick study on enzymes. Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts for metabolic progresses. Everything you eat has to be broken down by the body, by enzymes, before it can be used for energy or muscle growth and repair. The enzymes that break down proteins are called proteases. Our body produces proteases but they can be obtained from whole food sources and supplements.

Proteases in circulation promote muscle growth and repair. They were originally used to help athletes recover from injuries such as fractures, sprains, and strains after clinical studies showed decreased healing times. Proteases are believed to reduce inflammation. So how does this relate? Inflammation delays muscle recovery, thereby delaying muscle growth. Proteases speed up recovery and may increase amino acid absorption, which means more available building blocks for the repair of damaged muscles and joints.

Now that we understand that, the solution to increasing protein absorption and utilization is adding proteases to our diet. Aminogen is a patented, clinically proven blend of digestive proteases from aspergillus niger and aspergillus oryzae. Adding Aminogen to our protein powders or blends is an easy way to help your body digest this extra protein from your high protein diet. Aminogen is already found in many protein powders on the market. Simply look at the ingredients and see if it is listed.

Aminogen may:

Increase plasma amino acid levels
Increase branched chain amino acids levels
Increase nitrogen retention

Using Aminogen allows you to absorb and utilize more protein. This means, less soreness, better gains, and your hard work paying off. Stop wasting your protein and money. Be sure to include protease enzymes in your diet to maximize your protein and your dollar.
