You are probably aware that in order to build muscle tissue, your body needs to be stretched to the point that muscle fibers are actually broken down and repaired and strengthened. That is why it is so important to eat a lot of protein in your diet, especially after working out.
However, what most people tend to do is train to 80% or 90% of their capacity and stop there. While this is fine if you want a fantastic cardio workout, it isn't really enough to build impressive biceps or abs. No matter what part of the body you wish to beef up, you need to be pushing closer to 99% of your repetition limits in order to see the bulk added to your muscle mass.
The problem here is that while most people can push themselves for a while, it is difficult to keep this up over an extended period of time. There's no point having bulging muscles for a few weeks or even a few months, if you are going to go back to being thin or weak because you cannot maintain your exercise regime.
Maintain Your Muscles With Cycles
Thankfully, it is not the case that you need to work that hard every day, all year long. Some of the best conditioned athletes in the world, such as George St Pierre, the current welterweight champion of UFC Mixed Martial Arts, advocate an 'explosive' training regime.
This works in a different way to traditional workouts. In his new program 'Rushfit', George will put you through your paces in an 8-week course. Each exercise is merely 45 minutes long, including warming up and cooling down periods. However, you are pushing yourself with intense exercises for most of that time.
The idea is that if you can train as hard as you can for 8 weeks, you will definitely see results. With the right diet to supplement the workout, you cannot fail to see new muscle mass.
What Happens After The First 8 Weeks?
Well where most people would perhaps stop exercising all together, instead you should focus on consciously slowing things down a bit. This doesn't mean you no longer exercise, but you just wind it down somewhat. Your muscles won't disappear. You can maintain them, but they won't get any bigger.
You don't need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger and go crazy. If you're a guy trying to impress the ladies, most girls don't go for that extreme look anyway. It's best to get a toned profile and maintain it with a steady exercise regime, after the initial intense period.
Imagine getting that perfect toned muscle build and achieving your dream body. You can learn more about George St-Pierre's very own explosive training course at my Rushfit reviews page.
