The Ten Things I Love About Weight Training

ByMike Pow

I remember being one of the lankiest kids on the planet, or so I thought anyway. In Elementary school and high school, it was the same thing. Girls would think of me as a good friend, but never anything more than that. I was just the typical nice guy, who did his work...let's just say I wasn't considered the coolest of people in school. But I guess being the lanky, nerdy kid gets a bit old after a while. I wanted to know how to gain muscle FAST! I wanted to be athletic like the football players or the wrestlers. I wanted girls to look at me the way they looked at those guys.

I was always shy kid, but I became even shier in my teenage years because of a disorder called gynecomastia. It's a hormonal condition that results in males developing breast tissue during puberty. For some, gynecomastia can be a temporary sided effect of puberty. Unfortunately mine, wasn't temporary. I was teased, pinched, and laughed at. It's really a blow to your pride when people poke fun at you for something you can't control. My parents would tell me to ignore it, but my parents nor my siblings had to deal with that.

One summer, I finally got so sick of being teased that during the summer of my sophomore year, my frustrations got the better of me. Dad had a weight set, and I think I used it almost everyday that summer. I discovered the magic secret, the best way to build muscle. Do you know what it was? HARD WORK! I gained so much solid, fat-free muscle (a good amount of this muscle went straight to my chest) that summer, that I have stretch marks to this very day.

Upon returning to school, my confidence was through the roof! It was after that summer that I became a weight lifting junkie. I was looking at every weight training magazine I could get my hands on, I became fascinated with training programs, lifting technique, and supplements.

Sure, weight training was a great, temporary self-esteem booster, but eventually weight training (along with karate) became something that I grew to love. These days, whether people noticed my body or not, I train now because it's a part of me now; I train mostly because I love it.

What exactly do I love about weight-training and exercise? So many things. Though I could probably make a list of 100 reasons, I'll give you ten of the top reasons I love weight training:

1. Hard Work Equals Results- You ever been at a dead end job before? You work your behind off only to find that no matter how much time you put in your pay never changes. I like weightlifting, because hard work and results are directly related. If you're putting in the time, honestly pushing yourself, your body is going to get stronger, your physique is going to change. It's beautifully simplistic.

2. Training Regulates my Schedule- Call me crazy but, when I am on my exercise routine, and I stick to it, I find that I have more time to do other things, because I plan for them.

3. I Like Looking at Myself Naked - Okay maybe this reason sounds perverted at worst, and a little vain at best, but I can't be the only one who feels this way. I think it's a great feeling to see new lines and cuts in your musculature when you hop out of the shower and stand in the mirror. It's great!

4. I Like People Touching Me- Wait, this one also sounds perverted. I promise I'm not a sicko.

There's not really a whole lot to add to this one, but if you're training, and your muscles are pumped it's gratifying when people squeeze your arms or touch your chest and ask if you've been training. Um, it's especially gratifying for me when some hot lady I work with does it...I'm just saying.

5. The Feeling of Accomplishment- I'll never forget how strong I felt when I bench pressed 225 pounds for the very first time. It was the exercise that I was most afraid to do. All the big guys could lift that weight, but not me. When it finally happened, I thought to myself..."HELL YEAH!!"

6. Mindset Shifting- After bench pressing 225 pounds for the first time, there was this "Now what?" moment. In that moment, I realized that maybe it was possible to do more. I kept training, and I can now bench press 225 lbs 14 times without a spotter. To some advanced lifters that may not sound like much, but another cool thing about weightlifting is that it's a personal journey. When you get impossible out of your head, it's amazing what you can accomplish.

7. Enhanced Mental Function- When I'm exercising regularly, I find that I can focus better, that I read more, and my brain even produces more ideas.

8. Energy Boost - If you're just starting out, Immediately after a workout, your muscles can be spent and you can feel pretty worn out. But if you've been working out a consistently for a while, you may notice that your body has more energy than it did before. Your muscles aren't tiring as easily. You feel like you have the energy to take on the world. Stick to those training plans...it does pay off!

9. Sexual Drive - I don't know if this is necessarily because of the weight training, but I think it is. When I'm sticking to my exercise plan, for some reason, my libido hits a ceiling. Now if I can just get a girlfriend...

10. Builds Self-Discipline- I'll level with you, there are days when I don't want to go to the gym. Perhaps it's because of a long day at work, or just downright laziness. But nine times out of ten, going to the gym when I'm not feeling up to it really makes me feel like I've accomplished something. I feel fantastic afterwards. Going when I don't feel like it makes it easier to go the next time the fatigue hits.

How to Get Six Pack Abs - Three Things You Must Focus On

ByEric Duval

When it comes to getting six pack abs-and getting them fast-there really are only three things you must focus on.

Without further delay-here we go!

THINK FOOD FIRST

Yes, I know that most people think that exercising your abs is the best and fastest way to a six pack-but this is simply not true.

Your diet is the first place you need to start-if you are truly serious about getting a chiseled core. Why?

Simple.

While exercise can burn off some calories, the fact remains, if you do not eat it you will not need to worry about burning it off.

So what to focus on?

Lean protein is up first and should be the first thing you eat because protein fills you up and keeps you full-which means you will eat less.

Good Stuff.

White meat chicken, turkey and lean beef fit the bill here.

Fat is next, focus on healthy fats from seeds, and fatty fish like sardines.

The rest of your diet should be made up of quality carb sources.

I know that books have been penned about carbs, but the reality is that vegetables and moderate amounts of fruits are good.

Steer clear of things like pre-packaged foods and processed carbohydrates.

If you do this, you will be fine.

AB TRAINING

I have mentioned this before, but I would rather see someone do twenty good, solid, leg raises-for example-than five hundred sloppy reps.

When you train your abs, or any body part for that matter, focus on quality over quantity.

Really concentrate on each rep-force the abs to do all of the work-do not cheat.

As far as exercises go-to me it is simple-do the ones that you will do.

I know this sounds silly, but, I know myself, I do not like crunches-so I do not do them.

I will do roman chair sit-ups all day though-so I focus on these.

Trust me if you focus on just one or two movements-one for the lower abs and one for the upper-and work them hard, the results will come.

CARDIO

Up last we have cardio-I know it can be boring-but it really is necessary, for not only sharp abs-but for overall health as well.

Which is why I take a simple approach to it.

Do what you know you will do.

Yes, this is the same approach I take with ab exercise-but it works.

I like walking-so this is my cardio exercise of choice.

And because I like it, and will do it-the results come.

So if you like tennis-grab your racket and head out to the courts.

If yard work is your thing-dig right in.

The point here is to do what you like-this way you will do it often-and see the results of your efforts.

CONCLUSION

I know the above three concepts are not new or cutting edge-but the fact is they have always worked and will continue to work.

So I urge you, if you are looking to get, or simply sharpen up your six pack for summer or a special occasion, give these ideas a try.

I know if you do, you will be more than pleased with the results!

Build A Lean Body - 6 Things You Should Know

ByPaul E Nickerson

1. Workouts are designed to focus on specific muscle categories or groups, and foods are consumed with the intention to build the body's metabolism and increase body mass.

2. Boosting your protein intake is an essential weight training tip to follow when you want to build muscle fast. Quality (complete) protein is needed to build healthy, lean muscle.

3. However, the body will only use so much protein each day. It's best to take your weight in kilos and multiply by 1.2 grams to figure out how many grams of protein to eat for the best results. Less than that, and you won't be able to build muscle. For Example 200 lbs=90. 718 kilos x 1. 2= 108 grams.

4. Weight training uses the force of gravity to oppose the force generated by muscles through contraction. Weight training uses a variety of specialized equipment designed to target specific muscle groups and movements.

5. If you want to gain muscle and lose fat, you need to make a commitment to your workout and diet in order to be successful. begin to visualize your self in the shape and tone you desire. SET A GOAL And then stay focused on that goal. You Will succeed.

6. You ought to detox at least one time a year. A light detoxifying plan is generally safe; as a matter of fact, scientific fields of study show that a detox is beneficial for health. You ought to be heedful if you are a nursing mom, youngster, and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or TB. Confer with your healthcare practitioner if you've questions about whether detoxing is proper for you. At the start, lighten your toxin load. Do away with intoxicants, coffee, smokes, sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the system and are obstacles to the process. Minimize utilization of chemical-based home cleaners and personal healthcare products (cleaners, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and replace with natural alternatives.

Let's face it. Fitness can be a fight, particularly when you're trying to be successful at physical and mental wellness. And like all fights, to succeed you must find the winning techniques and apply them.

We need support and family to help us along the way. We as well know that the best success is self discipline. We can agree with all this, however at the same time it's reasonable to remind you of something more significant than all those things taken together - your health.

My name is Paul Nickerson I have ten years of martial arts training and have built muscle in the process.I have trained with weights as well. I have done lots of research about fitness prior to writing this article.

So get Fit this year
