Quick Guide To Mastering The Muscle-Up

ByRex F Wheeler

In the world of fitness and strength training, there exists several benchmarks which are a tell-tale sign of true mastery and an elite level of strength. Once you reach that level, you know that you are in the top percentile of athletes in the world. Before we reach these lofty heights, there are a few fitness benchmarks we can achieve in less time, but still garner huge rewards from.

One such benchmark is the muscle-up. The muscle-up is a strange amalgamation of the conventional pull up and the standard dip - both of which are fitness benchmarks in and of themselves. Mastering this exercise is the next step in your progression to become fitter and stronger. So how do you become an expert at muscling up your entire bodyweight without breaking a single bead of sweat?

The trick is to condense the entire movement of the muscle-up into two separate parts. The initial part of the movement is the pull up. The second part is the dip. If we are able to master these two movements separately, we are then able to join them together and combine them into one single successful movement. This is how most athletes train. They break everything down into small parts and work on them separately first. Without further ado, let's get into it.

1. Master the weighted pull up - The initial movement in the muscle-up exercise is the pull up. A conventional pull up simply isn't sufficient to do a muscle-up. To be able to get into a position to complete the second part of the muscle-up movement (the dip), you need to get your chest, not just your chin, over the bar. So how do you build this up? You use weights! When you can do a pull up with an additional quarter of your bodyweight, you'll have enough power to do a muscle-up.

2. Master the weighted dip - The weighted dip is a rather easy exercise. Firstly, like the pull up, you must master the basic bodyweight movement first. Dips only work if performed with their full range of motion. That means you need to dip to at least 90 degrees if not more. Master a full dip first before strapping some weight onto yourself. Once you are able to dip with a quarter bodyweight of additional weight, you're good to go.

3. Get a grip - The key to making the transition from the pull up to the dip is a sturdy grip. Your wrists shouldn't slide around the bar and your grip should be vice like. The problem is that if your pull up bar does not rotate freely, you may need to adjust your grip as you pull yourself up. However, this happens naturally. You simply need to have sturdy wrists to keep yourself from breaking or straining your wrists.

The strength of your forearms is critical to mastering the muscle-up. As a result we recommend you check out our post on forearm workouts to strengthen them. We also have a lot of content on general fitness and bodybuilding for you to browse through.

The best way to approach fitness, body building, or weight loss, is to get a personal trainer. They provide you with a solution that not only delivers excellent results in a pretty short period of time, but also protects and improves your general health. But, do not despair if you cannot afford to get one.

The best way to approach this issue is progressively. You will not just grow huge muscles over night. These would be very unrealistic expectations, which can do no one any good. You need to understand that the process is gradual, and not instant, and it will take a little bit of time until you can begin to see noticeable results.

If your goal is to build up your muscles, then you should take into consideration that working out is not the only thing you will have to do. There are several factors concurring with this process, and all of them have to be carefully included in a complex program.

Workout Routine
If your goal is to get bigger muscles, then you should know that your workout needs to be progressive. You need to start with smaller weights and progressively grow until you can take no more, with caution though, because you might strain yourself and that might keep you out of the gym for a long period of time enough to affect your long term effort.

Then you must also know that you need to take longer breaks between the series of exercises, because your muscles will be subject to a huge force, and if you push them and don't let them rest, the training will not be effective.

Diet
In order for the workout to be effective, you have to increase your intake of protein, so it is best to consume more eggs, red meat, and also fresh fruits and vegetables. That way, your body will have a reservoir of materials to work with in order to fulfill your dream.

Sleep
If you are taking on such a program, you also need to make a sleeping program of at least eight hours every night. After being pushed at the gym, your body needs plenty of rest to rebuild its strength and take you on with your daily activities, plus the very intense body building workouts.

Keeping all of the above in mind, you are guaranteed to get the best results you have ever had.

In all matters of body building, fitness, and diets, Scott can provide people who are interested with a lot of quality information. The same applies to the question which is the best way to gain muscle fast?

Quick Shortcuts For Insane Six Pack Abs

ByTank Armstrong

Aren't we a weird bunch, us human beings? We are always looking for the easy way out. Someone out there is always looking for a method to make a certain task easier and less time-consuming. I suppose it makes sense after all. With the time saved, we can always focus on the areas of our lives that mean most to us. So suppose you want a ripped mid section just in time for the holidays. You've left it a little late but you're willing to make a go of it. What do you do? Are there any shortcuts you can take to get that desirable set of six-pack abs? Yes there certainly are and we will be going through them now!

1. It's all in your head: Before we get into the nitty gritty, we need to completely wipe the software installed in your head. That software input is the reason for the physical output - your current physique. Your current eating habits, lifestyle choices and attitudes have resulted in the body you have now. If you are not entirely pleased with your body, then you need a mental overhaul.

Start to look at food differently and also begin to factor in wise lifestyle decisions that help you towards your goal of getting a lean and mean set of ripped six-pack abs. the most difficult thing you can ever do is to try and transform yourself with an old way of thinking and an old set of habits. It's such a struggle that you'll likely give up and revert to your old self. Avoid this!!

2. Diet: Start to look at food differently. Instead of thinking; "Hmm, this is yummy", start thinking, "is this good for me? ". While you do not want to be a calorie counter, you DO want to be calorie conscious. start drinking semi skimmed instead of whole milk and also begin to look at having reduced fat meals versus the full fat versions. At this point you are simply transforming yourself into someone who eats healthier. This is before you do a complete dietary overhaul and begin eating like a monk.

A gentle introduction always works best. I will warn you that initially, you will dislike the taste of greens and whole grain, unprocessed foods if you are not used to eating that kind of food. Gradually, you'll develop a taste for it and as a matter of fact, you'll start to hate the processed stuff. After 3 years of eating nothing but whole meal brown bread, I cannot stand the taste of white bread. I struggle to finish a slice.

3. Exercise: For the most part, everyone has a set of six pack abs and if your body fat is low enough, they'll begin to show. The problem is, you'll look emaciated rather than impressively toned. You definitely need exercise to get some meat on your bones. There's little point in having a six pack if you have a bird chest and mosquito arms. It may impress you but everyone else will worry about your eating habits.

Therefore you need to look at an exercise program that will begin to add pounds of muscle to your body. For the ladies, a bit of muscle will highlight your curves by adding muscle tone and it make you look even more feminine. You needn't worry about gaining pounds of flesh as your high repetition, low resistance exercise program and low testosterone will massively limit the amount of muscle you can gain.

You could always make your journey to getting a ripped six pack that much easier by investing in a ready made muscle building program. Mike Chang's Six Pack Shortcuts is by far the most popular and it has obtained great results for regular people who are not dissimilar to you!
